Say this sentence three times and notice the word your brain holds on to: “I don’t want to be in debt.”
[ON SCREEN: the sentence on a notebook page, the word “don’t” fading out]
Your brain skips the word “don’t”. Tell someone not to picture a pink elephant and the elephant is all they see. So every time you repeat that sentence, you’re drilling the word debt into the part of your mind that should be looking for money.

I picked this up from Dr. Steve G. Jones, a clinical hypnotherapist with over 20 years of experience. He teaches a simple flip. Rewrite the fear as a picture you would be glad to see, with a number in it.

“When I log in to my internet banking, I want to see at least $5,000 sitting in my everyday account.”

Steve worked this out while he was $80,000 in debt and sleeping on his office couch. It’s one small piece of the method he built afterwards: a 202-page manual, and six guided hypnosis sessions that make the new thinking automatic, so you stop having to remember.

He explains the whole method in a free video presentation. The link is right here.
